Posted by Simon Webb on 5 September 2021
Elmbridge Roadrunners took the title as the River Relay returned in fantastic style this morning (Sunday September 5).
59 teams lined up, with the Elmbridge team of Andy Moreton, Nikki Nicholson, Chris Davidson, Jani Kraner and Gary Dunk taking the win in 2:44:41, ahead of the first of eight teams from Stragglers.
Jacky Balfour, Tom Howarth, Paul Lowe, Filip Egierszdorff and Charlie Jeffrey secured second place in 2:48:18. Charlie gaining two places on the final leg and bringing the team home ahead of Clapham Pioneers in 2:48:52.
For Elmbridge it was a performance almost half an hour quicker than in 2019 (3:14:15) and close to the 2019 winning time posted by Trent Park (2:44:11). For Stragglers they improved by more than 9 minutes moving from 5th in 2019 to 2nd this time around.
Elsewhere for Stragglers our teams finished in positions 9, 15, 23 (Little Feet), 32, 39 (Little Feet), 53 (Star Runners) and 57 (Little Feet).
You can find the provisional results here.
Thank you to the 59 teams, the many volunteers looking after the changeover points, course marking and marshal duties, as well as the organising team of Race Director Peter Wedderburn, supported by Phil Hall, Andy Howarth, Jon Parry, Kevin Price and Simon Webb.
