Ladies Surrey League XC from 3rd December
Posted by Alan Mawdsley on 8 December 2016
After 2 out of the 4 Surrey League Cross-Country matches, the ladies are in 2nd, and are feeling confident they can be promoted back into division 1.
At the 2nd match on the 3rd December, despite missing some of our strongest runners, 17 ladies put in gutsy performances up and down the hills (aka ex rubbish heaps) of Mitcham Common with the A team finishing 5th and the B team finishing 10th. This was despite the stress many had arriving late due to a major failure on South West Trains, and those who drove not finding parking places! Particular mention has to go to Clare Graham who ran onto the start line pinning her number to her vest, and didn’t even get a chance to change her shoes!
It was great to see yet more newcomers to cross-country with both Stephanie Atkinson and new Straggler member, Michelle Spencer on the start line, and both were still smiling at the end!
Juliet Cleghorn is our leading lady, currently the 5th leading individual in division 2 after 2 races.
Well done to everyone in the team.
