Run or Volunteer at the 2021 River Relay
Posted by Simon Webb on 4 July 2021
The River Relay is an annual running relay organised by The Stragglers Running Club, taking place on September 5th 2021. Teams of 5 complete at total distance of just over 26 miles (a full marathon!).
There are 5 stages, starting at Boveney, two miles up river from Windsor, and finishing by the Hawker Centre in Ham. This year the organising committee has decided to improve marshalling and runner support, so we will need more volunteers to fill the roles.
The volunteer roles will include:
Assisting at the race start on Sunday 5th September
Timekeeper, timekeepers assistant and changeover organiser (3 people in total) at the end of each stage.
Finish crew.
Marshals on course at key points.
Advance course marking.
Tail bike.
In total we are looking for around 25 volunteers. If you are able to help and are not running in a team (Or if you are perhaps planning to run the first leg and will be free after.) Please drop an email to Peter Wedderburn peter@kbcspecialevents.com
You can also register your interest in running for Stragglers. All teams are mixed, with at least one female and one vet. Entry fee is £10 per runner if you are England Athletics offiliated, £12 if you are not. Where possible runners will be charged via their Stragglers account (which you use to pay your membership) once you have run.
