Thank you, Duncan

It’s an end of an era as Duncan Gaskell will be stepping down from leading the Tuesday night speed and hills sessions at the end of April.
Duncan says: “I have no idea when I started to attend/supervise these on a regular basis. They have been going for 10-15 years. Initially I took part too, but it was easier to supervise on a bike rather than run and time at the same time and so, supervision without taking part has been the norm for most of the time.
“I’ve had lots of pleasure, particularly whilst some of those I coached were taking part, but also when they weren’t there. It's been great to hear so many stories of Parkrun and 10k pb's over the years. It made it all worthwhile.
“Thanks are due too to Ian Callander who has always been quick to deputise to cover my holidays and trips. Over the 10-15 years, there cannot have been more than a couple of occasions when I or Ian haven’t been there, whatever the weather.
“I’m going to concentrate on my cycling for the next few months. Freeing up my Tuesday nights will help with that.”
We will announce plans for the continuation of speed work beyond the end of April soon. Duncan’s last session will be Tuesday April 24th. Many Stragglers will have benefited from these sessions over the years, some may even have enjoyed them too, even if it sometimes feels like the reps add up to more than 24 minutes!
The Stragglers would like to thank Duncan and Ian for all their fantastic work and support, no matter how cold or wet it may have been.
