Website Update
Posted by Alan Mawdsley on 19 January 2017
The new website has been live since 11th January and seems to be working! Below are a few points that have come up since the launch.
- People have asked to register and have access to the members areas. All members will be invited to register (and get your log in information) in early March.
As well as driving the website, ClubBuzz also provides subscription management and we want to test that with the small number of people we currently have registered (essentially the committee) before we bring everybody else on board. If the subscription and payments process failed with over 400 members, it would be a much bigger job to sort it all out.
Our plan is:-
- To complete testing of subscription management
- Register all the members in March
- Start the new subscription year on 1st April. ClubBuzz will generate the appropriate subscription ("member" or "member plus England Athletics") and you will receive an email in the middle of April telling you how much you owe and the payment options.
Ideally we would have liked to get everything ready before launching the new site but decided to go ahead because of an increasing number of "time outs" when trying to update and access the old site. When everybody is on the new site, we will use the discussion forum facility to get input from members on how we can make the website more useful to them.
- In the meantime, people are still applying to join the club and they can take advantage of our informal "Try Before You Buy". As long as we have their name and email address, they can be included in the February/March registration. They can pay their subscription in April along with everybody else but don't need to pay anything before then.
- In some circumstances, when people tried to access parts of the site their browser gives a message that there was a problem with the site's security certificate. This was related to the fact that we use the stragglers.org domain name to reach the clubbuzz site. This has now been corrected.
As always, if you have any questions, please post them here.
